Joan Tuma, age 76 of Addison, Texas, loving wife to Don for 57 years, lost her battle against metastatic breast cancer June 1, 2021 while resting peacefully at home.
She was preceded in death by parents Manfred R. & Blanche E. Lederer; and brother Fred.
Joan was a fond sister-in-law to Arthur J. & Linda Tuma, and Paul E. & Patricia Tuma; and a dear aunt to Lori and Jill.
Her cousins Lorene, David and Maggie, Francine & Kenny; and Wendy & Tom will definitely miss her.
Joan attended Drexel Grammar School and graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois.
In June 1961, Joan met Don while employed in Berwyn, Illinois. They married in 1964 and moved to their first home in North Riverside while Joan was an executive secretary.
After Joan and Don relocated to the Dallas area in 1978, she became a real estate broker, receiving many awards for excellence on her way up the ladder of success!
In her spare time, Joan played tennis and racquetball. She traveled with Don to Florida often to visit his family and to walk in the warm, white sand of Clearwater Beach. Also, a couple of ocean cruises really made her happy!
But some of her most enjoyable times were with her friends, Lorraine, Barbara, and Joyce when meeting for lunch where they could relax, kick-up their heels and reminisce.
Socializing with some of Joan and Don's closest neighbors, you know who you are, was very delightful, year after year.
During her private hours, Joan would read or talk often with her long-distance school pal, Barbie who would remind her about those crazy school days long ago.
Being an avid animal lover, Joan supported the local ASPCA and enjoyed the company of her furry friends. She was always kind and thoughtful.
Everyone who got to know Joan and experience her charm, warmth and loyalty, knew from the start how special she was.
She surely will be missed and never, ever be forgotten.
God Bless you, Joan.
