

John Carlsen, aged 91, passed away on February 11th, 2026, in The Colony, Texas. He was born on July 4th, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John and Konstance Carlsen, who were Norwegian immigrants to America.
John was raised in Crookston, Minnesota and lived in Bolivia, South America for 4 years when his father was there as a Lutheran Missionary. He attended The University of Minnesota. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1959 and was ranked as a Staff Sergeant.
On an icy Thanksgiving Day, November 27th, 1958, he married Omeda Faye Bullington in Blair, Oklahoma. Together, they had three children. John was a Sales Engineer and worked in Military Instrument Contracting for more than 40 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren, writing and reading, woodworking, painting and baking apple pies on occasion. He also served as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon at his church for many years.
His family and friends will always remember him as a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a strong-willed man of faith and wisdom, and a prayer warrior. He was a good listener, always willing to lend a helping hand and found humor in any situation.
John is preceded in death by his mother, father, his sisters Clara and Charlotte, his brother David and his loving wife, Omeda Carlsen. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Glenn Hansen of Minnesota, his sister-in-law Barbara Carlsen of Colorado, his children: John K. and Pam Carlsen and Steve and Michele Carlsen of The Colony, Tx, Konnie Witten and Gavin Webb of Carrollton, TX, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be dearly missed, until we see him again!
A Celebration of Life for John will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 1:30pm at First Baptist Church Hebron in Carrollton, TX.
