

John Conde, 94, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle passed away Thursday, April 18th at his home. The son of James and Josephine Conde, he was born in Geneva, Illinois and was one of nine children.
John grew up in Geneva and graduated from Geneva High School in 1936. Following his graduation he worked as a landscaper with his family and on August 17, 1941 he married Santa Difazzio in Wheaton, Illinois. He was a devoted husband and father, for to that union was born a son and a daughter.
A veteran of WW II, he entered the United States Army in 1942 and was a supply sergeant while stationed in England.
Following his discharge in 1946 he began his career in the grocery business, beginning as a butcher, later becoming produce manager and that was followed by many years of store management. In the early 1960’s he established his own grocery business and later worked for IGA (The Independent Grocer’s Association) with the responsibility of structuring and planning and making ready their newly constructed stores. He retired in 1984 and moved with his wife to Carrollton, Texas in 1999.
John continued to be active serving the Home Owners Association as Pool Monitor and devoting his time to his favorite interests and pastime, that of gardening, particularly the growing of roses, horse racing, card playing and playing dominoes.
Preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters, he is survived by his wife Santa of the home; by a son, Ron of Molalla, Oregon and a daughter, Patty Wilson and her husband, Jim of Carrollton and by a sister, Mamie Collins of Geneva, Illinois.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 23rd in the chapel of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1705 E. Peters Colony Rd, Carrollton. The service will be followed by a fellowship meal in the community room at the church.
