Rev. T.N. John and Kunjamma
John of the Thekkattil Family
He was the eldest of nine
children and from a very young
age grew up with a love for
family and reverence to God. After graduating in Economics
from Marthoma College, Kerala University in 1961, he embarked
on his professional journey to Salem. During these early days,
he met and married the love of his life, Aleyamma, daughter of
Mathai Philip from the picturesque hills of Mukkoottuthara-Erumely. Together
they set out to Bombay, where he started his professional career
with Raymonds-JK groups. His strong work ethics and dedication
enabled him to quickly climb the ladder and take on an executive
position. He was a member of the Mar Thoma Syrian church of
Kalyan, where he served as secretary and Vice President during
various times.
In their 49 years of married life, Ninan and Aleyamma
were blessed with four children and ten grandchildren. Although
he had an opportunity to advance his career in Bombay by
spearheading a hospital project, he sacrificed his dream job for
the better future of his family and emigrated to United States
in 1988.
Ninan was an active member of Victory Assembly of God
church in Dallas, Texas. He sought to instill the love of God in
his children and grandchildren. Being the family patriarch, he
took great joy in spending time with his family and was known
to love family celebrations. He enjoyed the great outdoors and
traveled to many places including the Holy Land. He was a
man who loved life and took special pride in his grandchildren.
