Born on February 5, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Ken grew up there and developed a deep love for fishing and the outdoors — a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
Ken earned his degree from Louisiana Tech and went on to build a successful career as a surety underwriter with Fireman’s Fund. He was respected for his sharp intellect, careful thinking, and strong desire for learning.
On May 3, 1986, Ken married the love of his life, Susanne McAdoo Roy, at Lovers Lane Methodist Church in Dallas. Their marriage was a partnership built on loyalty, independence, and a shared love for animals.
Ken was an intellectual and independent thinker, as well as a devoted animal lover. He was mechanically inclined and endlessly curious — equally comfortable with problem solving plumbing issues as he was exploring the complexities of quantum physics. A deep thinker and dedicated researcher, he was an avid reader who enjoyed boating, fishing, and traveling to small towns where he and Susie delighted in discovering local restaurants and hidden gems. He had compassion for the less fortunate, particularly children and animals, and quietly supported causes close to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtis and Elgin Roy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susanne McAdoo Roy; his sister, Susan (Roy) Reeves and her husband, Tommy; his sister-in-law, Marijane Cunningham and her husband, Larry; his brother-in-law, Jack McAdoo Jr. and his wife, Natasha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Methodist Church, Hasley Chapel in Plano, Texas at 1pm on March 12. Visitation will follow immediately after service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ken’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
