Lydia Lara Benavides
July 20, 1940 – July 27, 2022

On July 27, 2022 our beloved mother Lydia Lara Benavides, 82, went home to rest in heaven.
She was born in Tula, Tamaulipas Mexico on July 20, 1940. Lydia graduated from Technical School of Monterrey NL Mexico in 1960. She married the love of her life, Manuel C. Benavides on August 24, 1962. They decided to build their family in the United States and moved to Dallas in 1963.
Lydia worked as a Seamstress for 20+ years for various companies before eventually becoming self-employed.
She was a member of Las Guadalupanas at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and had a passion for sewing, gardening, cooking, and traveling/cruises.
She is survived by her children; Manuel Benavides Jr., Richard Benavides, Martha Leticia Briseño, Guadalupe Dwyer, Bobby Benavides, Elvira Orozco, grandchildren; Richard Benjamin, LJ, Robert Jay-Manuel, Charles, Steven Gerardo, Amanda Lydia, Marcos Antonio, Christina Marie, Noel, Vivana Alexa, Mikayla and John Paul with 10 great grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Adalberto, Lara Gómez, Teresa Lara de Godinez, José Luis Lara Gómez, Gloria Lara de Garcia, Josefina Lara de Govea, Rafael Lara Gómez, Enrique Lara Gómez.
Lydia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel C. Benavides, her parents; Jose Carmen Lara Lopez and Rafaela Gomez Aguilera and siblings; Bernardino, Lara Gómez, Obdulia Lara de Perez, Lucila Lara de Rivera.
A viewing will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home on August 1, 2022 at 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary Service starting at 7:30pm. A funeral mass will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church on August 2, 2022 at 2:00pm with a committal service to follow at Furneaux Cemetery.
