Marianna Poston Schulz was born July 21, 1926 in San Angelo and went to be with her Lord October 7, 2013, age 87. She was the daughter of Floyd R. and Shelby (Hall) Poston of Vernon, TX. She attended schools in Tyler, Shreveport, and Post, TX, graduating from Vernon High School in 1943. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, now known as Texas Women’s University, and Arlington State College, now known as University of Texas at Arlington.
She married Arnold Schulz, September 4, 1948, who preceded her in death December 10, 2005, after 57 years of marriage. Survivors are son, Randy Schulz, Southlake, grandsons, Michael Schulz, Frisco, and Adam Periman, Grapevine and his two children, Tucker and Madisen; daughter Sandy Ericksen, husband, Scott Ericksen, grandchildren Eli and Maggie, Carrollton and grandson Caleb Ericksen, wife, Jessica and great-granddaughter, Kennedy, (age 8 days), Ft. Worth; several nieces and nephews and their families in California, Arizona; cousins in Rockwall, North Carolina, and many friends at church, and places of work. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Shelby (Hall) Poston, baby sister, Nancy Carolyn Poston, brother Jerry Poston, and daughter-in-law, Laura (Fuston) Schulz, Randy’s wife.
Employment included IBM Dept of Resistol Hats, Garland; Computer Services, Dallas; American Meter Co., Fullerton, CA; University of Illinois, Champaign, IL; U. S. Department of Defense, Corps of Engineers, CERL, Champaign IL in Computer Operations. She returned to Texas in 1987 when her husband, Arnold, retired from Kraft Foods, Champaign, IL locating in Carrollton, TX. She retired October 1995 after 20+ years with the Corps of Engineers, Dallas.
She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church, Garland, TX and served as their first treasurer of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was an active Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Carrollton, TX, LWML, Careciple Group, POP’s Senior Citizens, and the Church Library since 1997; She was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Capter 1139, North Dallas (NARFE).
