

Marlys Jean Petersen, 73 years, of Fremont, Nebraska, formerly of Dallas, Texas, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at her home. Marlys was born November 2, 1941 in Chadron, Nebraska to Norman and Marie (Manchester) Law.
She lived in Chadron from 1941 to 1950, then moved to Fremont in 1950 and lived there until 1972, from 1972 until 1983 she lived in Minden, Nebraska and then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1983 until 2013. She moved back to Fremont in 2013 until the present. She was a 1959 graduate of Fremont High School. Marlys married Gerhard Petersen in 1959 at Broken Bow, Nebraska. Gerhard preceded her in death June 20, 1987. She worked as a Legal Secretary for IBM and the Law Offices of Massar & Massar. She retired in 2013.
She was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas and Dallas Tennis Leagues. She enjoyed playing bridge, waterskiing, catering, family lake outings. Attending children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, taking adult piano lessons, puzzles, gardening and annual trips to Mexico with her mother and sister. She loved animals.
She is survived by children, Pam and husband, Hans Massar of Rockwall, Texas; Steve and wife, Rose Petersen of Auburn, Nebraska, Peg and husband, Rick Brune of Dodge, Nebraska, and Tom and wife, Terri Petersen of Louisville, Nebraska; and sister, Norma Rae Westphal of Bixby, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard Petersen; parents, Norman & Marie Law; and brother, Mert Law.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Friday, November 28, 2014 at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery alongside her husband in Carrollton, Texas.
