Melba was a devoted mother who taught her daughters always to put God first in their lives. She was truly a virtuous and phenomenal woman, singly and successfully raising three independent daughters at a difficult time when others showed little compassion or understanding for a Christian woman who happened to be divorced. She leaned heavily on God for guidance in every phase of her life. Among our many wonderful memories are her sharp sense of humor, her unique ability to create words that no one had ever heard before, her fierce protection of and loyalty to family and friends, as well as the many sacrifices she made so that her daughters would have opportunities in life that she never had. Her legacy still continues three generations later. Melba worked at Republic National Bank in Dallas, the Southern Baptist Annuity Board, Dresser Industries, and retired as a service representative after many years at Aetna Life and Casualty.
