In Loving Memory

Michael Odell Taylor, 68, of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed away on September 29th, 2020.

Mike was born in Dallas, Texas, to Milda Louise (Ballard) Taylor and Odell Taylor on September 23, 1952. He attended Sonora High School where he played wide receiver, winning the State Championship in 1971. Mike also attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. He married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Colley, on December 30,1977, in The Colony, Texas. For many years Mike worked for both Otis Engineering and Weatherford, travelling internationally as an ambassador for his brand and finding incredible success as a Global Sourcing Manager. Upon his retirement in 2017, Mike was intent on enjoying his hobbies. He spent his days playing golf, dove hunting, beaching it with his extended family, making improvements to his Fort Worth home and land, woodworking in his shop, watching movies with the family, going to Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games, and providing as much as he could to all who loved him. Above all, Mike was a family man who could not have been any more giving of his heart, love, time or compassion.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Milda Louise Taylor (Granny) and Odell Taylor (Little PawPaw); and his sister Shirley Irwin.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Taylor and children, Trenton Odell and wife, Jenn; Clinton Shane, John Cody and wife, Taylor and daughters Chelsea Shea and Courtney Michele. His world was his seven grandchildren, Landon, Michael, Caleb, Sophia, Paxton, Emersyn, and John Nolan all of whom looked up to their Pops with adoration. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara May, Patty Vest and her husband Bill, Cindy Wurtz and her husband David, and Shirley’s husband Glen with numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.

“A life that touches others goes on forever.”

I had the pleasure of working with Mike and playing golf with him and was shocked by the news of his passing. He was a genuinely good, friendly nice guy who will surely be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary and the rest of his family during these very difficult times. May he rest in peace with our Lord and Savior.

I met Mike in 1979 through softball in Carrollton. Mike was an awesome teammate and was a delight to be around both on and off the field. Mike was a great father and husband who loved his family and friends. May I God bless the Taylor family always. My heart goes out to Mary and the children. Rest In Peace, good buddy!

My heartfelt sympathies to your family. Mike was such an awesome guy. He was friendly and welcoming - I knew him through Traps N Craps and he made me feel so welcome my first tournament even though I was so horrible. It made an impression of what a great guy he was, and that was passed to his sons as well. I always enjoyed any round the Taylor's were a part of. Thoughts and prayers.
