Nancy, known as “Nan” by those who knew and loved her, made her transition on April 24, 2018. Her sweet smile and love of a good joke made her the darling of all who knew her. Born of parents Lorraine and Leonard Zastrow on June 28, 1937, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Nancy’s love of fashion lead to a short career as a model for her aunt’s dress shop in Wausau. She later working as a telephone operator in Wausau, before finding a career as a Braniff Airlines Stewardess. While both were working for Braniff Airlines she met and fell in love with Robert “Bob” Shaw. They married on November 24, 1960 in Wausau, Wisconsin. They moved to Dallas in 1967, and remained enjoying the warm climate, but never losing her Wisconsinite accent and sayings. A consummate homemaker, Nancy and Bob were never without a cat or two in their lives. Nan also welcomed any and all neighborhood kids for an impromptu swim lesson or party. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Nan loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends, the daily crossword puzzles and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Nan was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Bob Shaw. She was also predeceased by her sisters Lorraine “Bubs” Zimmerman and Marlene “Sis” Tanking. Nancy is survived by her niece and nephews, Mike Rossi, Janine Tanking, Christopher Tanking, and niece Jane Tanking. A memorial service will be held April 28, 2018 at 1:00pm with Rhoton Funeral Home, with private burial at DFW National Cemetery.
