On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Patricia “Aunt Patty” Rinaldo, dedicated wife and loving aunt, died peacefully at the age of 81 in Carrollton, TX. She was born on July 13, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL to Paul and Edna (Webb) Norwood.
Patty Norwood graduated from East St. Louis Senior High and then attended Freed Hardeman College. On February 5, 1966, she married Lawrence “Larry” Russell Rinaldo, Jr. She loved all things quilting and enjoyed sharing her passion, her tips and tricks, and her treasures of buttons, threads, notions, fabrics and patterns. On road trips, she was hard-pressed to pass by a quilting store without stopping. She shared her joy of sewing with her sisters, Uva and Lois, and with various quilting circles. She found great pleasure in passing it down to her nieces. Even in her last year she made “Welcome” pillows for new residents at her assisted living facility and some table runners for family.
She loved to serve others through her hospitality, and there was always a ton of leftovers (especially desserts!) after the holiday feasts she helped prepare. She would also plan fun activities for everyone, including trips to the nearby lake to feed the ducks, playing Bingo and midnight runs to a craft store on Black Friday. She wanted to make sure that everyone was included and had some task to do.
Patty was preceded in death by her father, Paul, her mother, Edna, her husband, Larry, and five siblings, Getha McTiernan, Uva Gardner, Glen Norwood, Mike Norwood and Lois Elliott. She is survived by her brother Harold Norwood. She also has numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom love their Aunt Patty.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at Rhoton Funeral Home, located at 1511 S Interstate 35E, Carrollton, TX 75006. At 1:00 pm, there will be a brief service at DFW National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Larry, who is a U.S. Army veteran.
