Robert Courtney Campbell a.k.a. Bob went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2025. Bob is survived by his older brother Douglas Campbell (and wife Dorothy) of Centerville Ohio, their two sons; Bryan of Waynesville, Ohio and Derek (and wife Shannon) of Colombia, Maryland and their sons Camden and Carson. Bob performed the service of the marriage of Derek and Shannon 29 years ago.
Bob was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Walter Maxwell Campbell and Priscilla Joanne Campbell. Bob loved the outdoors as a child. He was an industrious young man and early entrepreneur. He built several flotation rafts to navigate the lake behind his house which provided fishing and trapping muskrats and beavers. He would sell the pelts from his traps as a young boy. In high school he played the clarinet in his school’s marching band. Bob attended Butler University in Indianapolis, and he served honorably in basic training and the US Army medical training center before transferring to the Ohio National Guard in 1970.
Mid to late 1970’s Bob came to Dallas, Texas and was introduced to Believers Chapel. He had a fellowship at Criswell College and took courses at Southwestern Theological Seminary. Bob became a regular attender at Believers Chapel in the early 80s and enjoyed the ministry of Dr. S. Lewis Johnson. He would often recount stories about how he would talk to him after sermons on matters serious and matters jokingly. He liked Dr. Johnson’s dry sense of humor, which comported well with his Midwestern disposition.
Bob was a gregarious and devoted friend to the saints at Believers Chapel. He was committed to serious studying of scripture and promoting men that were sound in doctrine. He was good at citing scripture and giving words of encouragement as well as just listening. He had a good relationship with members of the synagogue next-door to Believers Chapel and was always looking for ways to share Christ to the Jews. But in general Bob was a foot soldier for Christ, always prepared and ready to give a defense for the faith that we have in Christ Jesus, living 1 Peter 3:15, and did it with gentleness, respect and love.
Bob is worshiping our King of Kings and Lord of Lords at this very moment. Amen.
