

He was born to Oscar Lee and Mavis Lawson. Talmage was raised in Oak Cliff, part of Dallas, TX and attended South Oak Cliff High School. He went on to serve as Sergeant in the Army National Guard with 6 years of service ending in 1969.
He married Mary Craven in April 7, 1972 and the couple had one child.
He was a Foreman at Texas Utilities where he worked for more than 30 years.
In his spare time Talmage enjoyed family time, hunting, fishing, anything outdoors! Tinkering in his workshop from woodworking, to metal to stained glass, creating, and building. He probably tried every craft (sewing, cross stitch, ceramics, etc) gardening and we cannot forget his Harley Davidson.
His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, funny and charming person. Always there to help anyone in need; An encourager that “you can do what you put your mind and effort to.” Never hesitated to share a story or testimony of the faithfulness of God. He had a great sense of humor, joyful heart and was a mentor to many! He was a hard worker and DIYer. In retirement, Talmage was Volunteer of the Year for Collin County for his volunteer service in the Emergency Room of Plano Presbyterian Hospital.
He was preceded in death by: his mom and dad, sisters Aurelia Ann Curry and Cassandra Sue Lawson as his immediate family members.
He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lawson, daughter Ginger Bay-Andersen, son-in-law Jeffery Bay-Andersen, grandchildren Gunnar, Laela, and Cannon, His eldest brother James Lawson, and, many cousins, nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 South Interstate 35e, Carrollton, TX 75006, US, on May 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211, US, on May 20, 2026, from 1:15 pm.
