

Wendell was raised in Mississippi. He entered the Army during World War II, serving in Iceland and Greenland. Later he served in the Army Air Corps and Joined the United States Air Force when it first started in 1947. During his Air Force career he served in the Korean War in Okinawa. After his time in Korea he served in the Strategic Air Command. He retired from the Air Force and volunteered as a Civilian in Vietnam where he served with Bell Helicopter.
While he was serving overseas during World War II, he received letters from a young lady in West Virginia. He went to meet her on his furlough and on March 31, 1945 he married Betty Helen Morrison.
Wendell and his family were stationed at numerous locations during his service in the military including, Tripoli, Libya and Lakenheath, England, as well as Florida, Tennessee, New Mexico, Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska, and other locations.
He retired from the Air Force in 1963. He worked as an electrician for LTV and Bell Helicopter. His last employer was Packaging Corp of America.
He was a devout Christian and was most recently active in the First Baptist Church of Hurst and Christ Community Church in Dallas TX.
Wendell was a resident of Carrollton for 30 years, and for the last 5 years he lived in Flower Mound.
Wendell was an avid gardener and quite the craftsman and electrician. He loved his Children and adored his Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren
Wendell is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years Betty Helen Morris, grandson Michael Morris, his parents and siblings.
He is survived by his children; Daughter, Betty Wendellyn Baker of Fort Worth; Son, Phil Morris and Wife Susan L. of Flower Mound; Son, Greg Morris and Wife Susan G. of Carrollton; Nine Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11 am in the Chapel of Rhoton Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Freeman officiating. Graveside services will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be given.
