Winona Temple

Winona was the youngest daughter, born September 29, 1934 to Perry and Evelyn Wilson. She grew up in Pattonville, Texas surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her close relationships with her extended family shaped her strong Christian values she lived by and passed on to her children. After graduating from East Lamar High School she moved to Dallas, Texas and worked for an insurance agency. She married John M. Temple on September 20, 1952. Together they raised their family in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch area until moving to Plano, Texas in 1973. She lived in the Plano area until moving into Villagio Assisted Living in 2015.

While a stay at home mom she volunteered at her children’s schools and was very active in her church. Once her children were grown she went to work as the office manager for Gary Barnes Photography. She was a member of Webb Chapel Church of Christ while living in Carrollton and then Pitman Creek Church of Christ of Plano. She spent her retired years on her back porch swing reading her favorite library books, volunteering at her church, and working out at her local senior center. She had a wonderful reputation as an excellent cook. Holidays were always a family affair at her house that included her homemade cakes, pies, and candies. She always remembered each family member’s birthday by baking their favorite cake. She never missed the opportunity to go on fun weekend trips with her daughters. She also loved to travel with her sister in the fall to see the changing of the leaves. Our Mother/Nana will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Winona was predeceased by John M. Temple, and her sister Margaret McLemore. She is survived by her children; daughter Rachelle Casey and husband Phil, daughter Colleen Watson and husband Wayne, daughter Patricia Pearce and husband Kenneth, son Paul Temple and wife April. Her grandchildren; Amber Brennan, Brantley Pearce and wife Adrienne, Bryan Casey and wife Amber, Amanda Brennan, Blair Casey, Alyssa Stephens and husband Corey, Austin Watson, Hannah Watson, and Jake Temple. And her great grandchildren; John and Ethan Casey, Ainsley and Amelia Pearce.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Villagio/Carrollton Gardens for the care they gave Winona over the years and also to Joannie and Cheri of Sparrow Hospice for their compassion and care at the end of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 26 at 2:00pm at Webb Chapel Church of Christ in Farmers Branch.
