Miss you buddy a lot. We had some really good times

Andy was a good kid.  (even for a Canadian).
We were in the administration of criminal justice program at Moorpark College in the 80's.

He could spin a wrench and a yarn or too.

It took me forever to find him all these years.  

He cared about the people he served.

Andy, I just found out about this yesterday when I called to wish you a happy birthday. I had called a few other times but never heard from you. I figured you were over in Iraq again protecting us. I am so sorry you were taken so early! We had a great time as co-workers and friends while in Nevada. I will always have fond memories of the fun we had and our treks to Oregon. Those were good times. RIP my friend. Love to you, Cindy, and Mom and Dad.

A tribute to our friend, Andy Notar.

He was a soldier with three tours in Kuwait, a sheriff’s officer who had a heart and a mechanic who knew cars and what made them tick.

He loved his 1911s and how to shoot them, and how to make all guns shine.

Lastly, he was a warrior.  Nobody in the medical field could believe he survived a deadly cancer for just short of two years.

We will miss your zest for life, your endless knowledge and that wonderful infectious smile and laugh.

I just heard the news about Andy. I lost Andy’s contact info a few years back and regret letting so much time go by. Always thought there would be time. :( Andy was a tremendous mentor to me while I was in HS, growing up in not the best of situations. Andy was always supportive and taught me a great deal. He was a great man and his passing is a loss to this world. Rest Easy! 🙏🏼

Andy’s hasty departure has shaken us all. We had barely learned of the existence of his illness, that he was already leaving us. You can imagine the pain we felt. 
True to himself and to everything he had advocated during his lifetime, he made it his duty to protect his beloved parents by delaying the moment when he would tell them he had cancer, only telling them bits of information because he knew very well that they would be overwhelmed by this terrible news. That is what he wanted to avoid at all costs. For this, we salute his courage and strength. That is the kind of man he was!!! 
We would like to highlight the unwavering support of Cindy, his accomplice, his ally, the woman of his life, who had always been there to help, support and surround him with all her sweetness and all her love. 
The distance did not allow us to see each other as often as we would have liked, but we were always delighted with his visits to Québec. 
We will miss him. His irresistible smile, his “joie de vivre”, his kindness and his communicative laugh will always be remembered. We will keep an eternal memory of the good, decent, honest, honorable, wonderful and endearing man he was. 
He can be proud of the life he led on Earth. 
As for us, we are very proud of you Andy. Rest in peace. 
You will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. 
Goodbye dear Andy. We will meet again one day.

Cindy, your husband and bestfriend was a true hero. He was someone I had an immense amount of respect for because of the way he spoke and carried himself. We not only knew each other in the Navy, but even beyond as friends after the Navy. I was blessed to have known him, and will miss him and his great big smile.  Keeping you and your family in my prayers. 
Andy buddy, we have the watch. Until we meet again may you rest in peace. ❤

Being Andy's friend is one of God's greatest blessings for us and a wonderful privilege.  He brought love, laughter, zest for life, and heartfelt joy. What a fight he made - what an awesome man!

I am so sorry for you lost, Andy was a true Shipmate that will be missed.  I enjoyed his energy and enthusiasm about the Navy and his family.
