Carol Ann Roberts

Carol was born in Hollywood California to Neil and Genevieve Whitney. She was one of five children; siblings George, Patrick, Julia, and Michael. Her father worked in Real Estate and was an avid golfer. Her mother worked as a School Teacher and was a beautiful pianist. Music and Real Estate followed through the family chain; ascendants and descendants having musical talents, guitars and singing around the kitchen table. Real Estate continues to follow down to the most recent, Carols granddaughter, Miranda (Dolly.)

Carol attended Mother of Good Council Catholic Elementary School and moved on to Hollywood High School. When they moved to Westchester from Hollywood, she finished school at Inglewood High School. Later in life; Carol attend two years of college courses at Western Nevada Community College in Carson City Nevada.

Carol entered the banking industry early on in her adult life; working sporadically until she became a fulltime employee after her last child began school. She retired as the Head of Operations from Bank of America in 1994.

Carol’s family life, as an adult, began when she married Robert Gerald Roberts. The couple quickly began their family. First, they lost two babies (twins). Then in March of 1959 their first-born child Linda Louise (Lindy Lou) was born. Only 11 months and 3 weeks later; Feb 1960, came Robert Gerald II (RG), and 5 minutes later her ‘little surprise’ Susan Ellen (Susie Q) was born. In Aug 1962, Julia Elaine (Phoo) jumped into the family; literally-Julia was the Joy in Carol’s group of kids. Bubbly being an understatement. Mark came next; tragedy struck and Carols young son did not survive. In Nov. 1965, Carol’s baby of the family, Matthew Jean Michael Patrick (Matt-chew) was born; On Thanksgiving. He always thought that the family gatherings on Thanksgiving were for him; because he was her baby, she let him believe that. In 2007, tragedy struck again and Matthew preceded her in death.

Carol enjoyed her adult relationships with her siblings as well. Family was always a constant in the Whitney family at their parent’s home, playing music, singing songs and thin included Carols children as they grew. Eventually her children grew (After giving everyone a run for their montey!) They married, had families and this new chapter gave Carol a new level of love: Grandchildren.

Carol LOVED being a Grandma/OMA. There is nothing like being a Grandmother. The love between a grandchild and grandmother is pure and loving; one that you that are Carol’s grandchildren will never lose. Her love will carry you through life; she will be in your heart forever. Carol loved all nine of you!

Carol became OMA to TEN Great-Grandchildren.

In 2009; her great granddaughter Destiny Angel (7) preceded her in Heaven and in 2014 her granddaughter Kelly Ann (Sugar Plum) joined her daughter Destiny. Carol is now with her son Matthew, Destiny and Kelly. They will all be together waiting to greet each of you when you are called.
