
Curtis D. Watson passed away on Dec. 1, 2024 in Carson City, NV. He was born in Burley, Idaho on May 9, 1948. His grandparents adopted him when he was a year old. Curtis's grandparents were hardworking ranch hands. They instilled a strong work ethic in Curtis at an early age. At three years old his grandfather taught him how to ride a horse. Curtis grew up fast learning how to hang on to his horse while moving cattle. His schooling was completed in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Soon after graduation he was enlisted into the US Army and sent to Vietnam. When he returned home, he started his law enforcement career as a deputy for Lander County Sheriff's Office. In 1982 -1986 he was elected Lander County Sheriff. Following his desire to remain in law enforcement he proceeded to work as a Elko County Detective and Lieutenant. He completed his career as Lieutenant with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Curtis enjoyed playing pool and competing in many tournaments.
Curtis suffered with health issues and resided at the Eagle Valley Care Center in Carson City, Nevada. He was grateful for the care and friendship that was given to him during the past few years.
He is survived by his daughter Ashlee Park of Spring Creek, NV and son Tyler Watson-Sandoval of El Paso,TX and eight grandchildren.
Curtis' urn was placed at the Northern Nevada Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV.
