Donna Doreen Beattie

Donna passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 at La Heilala Family Care Center in Carson City, Nevada. Donna was born in Middletown, Ohio in 1944 to Don & Vivian Streifthau.

Donna is survived by her loving daughter Kristie, her son-in-law Brandon and grandsons Wyland and Westin; loving son Daniel; granddaughters Rachel and Brooke; great grandsons London and Jesse. Also left to mourn her passing are her surviving siblings Thea, Doug, and David along with their families. She was predeceased by her father Don Streifthau, mother Vivian Hickey, daughter Beth Ann Bendel, brothers Gary, and Steve, also her husband Barry Beattie.

Donna was raised in Middletown Ohio. Donna was destined to take care of others – particularly those who were elderly. After high school she went right to nursing school. And, 40 years later she retired from nursing in 2005.

In 1973, a pastor’s wife led Donna to accept Jesus as her Lord. This changed the course of her life. She was instrumental in the course of her families’ lives and to those close to her. She attended and was a member of many different churches over the years in particular the Assemblies of God. While she was devoted to a rich church life and family, she also had time for other things. Donna was a talented lady and enjoyed sharing those talents. She enjoyed cooking, travelling, reading – sometimes a book a day, square dancing with her husband Barry, sewing and quilting, raising children and grandchildren. Donna played the piano with elegance; she loved the great hymns of the faith.

Barry and Donna met while she was on nursing duty at Casa Palmera Nursing home in 1991 in Fairbanks Ranch, CA. and a year later they were married. They were married 22 years before Barry passed away in 2015.

Our family would like to express their gratitude for your thoughts, prayers and support while walking through this journey. Thanks to Carson Tahoe Hospital, La Heilala Family Care, and hospice professionals for supporting Donna’s wishes and making her last days comfortable.

Her funeral and celebration of life will be held at 2pm, Friday, October 10th at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home; 3945 Fairview Dr. in Carson City, NV. Donna will be laid to rest at Lone Mountain Cemetery, Carson City, NV. This will be a private event.
