Frances R Gower
March 17, 1943 – February 16, 2020
Frances Ruth Salazar Gower was born March 17, 1943 in Gerber, CA to William and Florence Salazar. She was beautiful, independent, and athletic, a woman who loved to play sports. Fran was an avid bowler, competed in tennis and was the champion archer in her high school. She was often on several softball leagues at the same time, zipping from Colfax to Grass Valley so she could play two games in the same night. She pitched slow and fast pitch, practicing for hours in the backyard. Fran always kept a fishing pole and tackle box in the trunk of her car so she could go fishing on a moment’s notice.
Fran married Perry Gower Jr. and raised four children, Chanda, Kimberly, Cheri, and Perry III, losing a fifth child, Steven, just 5 days after he was born. She had 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Fran loved animals, often taking in strays throughout her life. Her most recent rescued pets, Chihuahua, Bella and a cat, CeCe were rehomed with one of her daughters.
Fran passed away February 16th at Carson Tahoe Medical Center with her daughter Cheri and Son-in-Law Stephen by her side. She will be fondly remembered for her beauty and sassy personality.

I wanted to share one of my memories that at the age of 60 now, I remember like yesterday! Fran has the most BEAUTIFUL hair! As a young child she would let me brush it! Sometimes she would kind of either have me distracted, redirected, or just plain hide from me for as long as she could! I didn't know at the time, but I guess I " might" have been a little annoying??? Looking back she was ALWAYS so sweet, & I use to love listening to the stories she would tell! However, ( knowing what I know now) she was actually a saint! I would brush her BEAUTIFUL long black hair, & then I would take it & say, let's do it upside down! She would just smile & have her little infectious laugh & bend forward & let me brush some more! I will miss u always! U made this big bad world, a much better place! U have ur beautiful children as proof of that!
Dear Heavenley Father, as ur daughter Fran now resides with u, I want to thank u for blessing all of us with ur daughter! She has been a blessing in my life & I know a blessing for many many others! Thank u again Father! We say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
P.S. & God I hope u have been practicing ur pitch, &/or ur bowling skills, cuz this gal was always an asset for every team she played! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏
