

Born April 1, 1927, in Rockford, Illinois, Gene had a love all things related to aviation, including building and flying RC airplanes, obtaining his pilot's license and owning several different airplanes over the years. Gene was an avid bowler and continued to bowl regularly until the age of 93.
Gene retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after proudly serving our country for 20 years. He was also a jet mechanic with United Airlines, retiring after 27 years.
Gene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan Sanford, daughters Theresa "Terry" Beaudry (Mark), Nancy Smith (Don), Sheri Knop (Ken), and sons Allen Francis (Jen), and Aaron Francis (Claudia). Gene was a grandfather of 3, great grandfather of 2 and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or your favorite animal shelter in Gene's honor.
A celebration of Life for Gene will be held at a later time.
