Family man, entrepreneur, veteran, and local stockcar legend, Jack Heller died Friday, August 9, 2019 at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was 85 years old.

Born in San Jose, CA, September 29, 1933 to Charles Alfred Heller Sr. and Juanita Blackburn Heller, he was an only child. Jack served honorably in the US Navy, was in active duty during the Korean War, and was honored as a disabled veteran. Jack was the owner/operator of Heller’s Carson Transmission and Engine. Located in downtown Carson City across from the Nevada State Legislative building, the business thrived for over 39 years due to Jack’s honesty and integrity when dealing with local customers. To some Jack was known as “Blackjack” Heller, a nickname that he carried throughout his racing career. Winning multiple championships at T-Car Speedway, he also served as President of the local governing body, SNARA, and drove stock cars, super-stock cars, and super-modified cars throughout his years on the track. Jack had many hobbies, including ham radio operator, author (multiple magazine publications and one book), traveling and photography. He was an avid reader. But to Jack his greatest accomplishments were his family and his service to his church. He served in many capacities as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Fatter-Day Saints. He spent decades dedicating his time in both the Oakland, CA Temple and later in the Reno, NV Temple.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Janet, and children – Jack E. Heller (Kathi) of Mt. Vernon, Washington; Tamera Jesse (Everett Sr.) of Carson City, NV; Dean Heller (Lynne) of Smith Valley, NV; Mac Heller (Lori) of Spokane, Washington; Sara Durocher of Cedar Hills, UT; Bryan Heller (Kristi) of Carson City, NV. Jack and Janet are blessed to have 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
