Jim was born on May 14th, 1936 to Annie and Oscar Gore of Oklahoma. His family moved to California when Jim was five years old. As an adult, he managed the Los Angeles Shipyard for many years. Later he moved his family to San Diego County where he owned his own metal fabrication shop until moving to Gardnerville.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty years, Kathi, his sons, Paul and Shane, and his daughter Megan, Two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Jim was the backbone of our family. He was strong, loving, and, when needed, always ready with a “hey boy,” to bring you back to reality. He loved his wife with all his heart and soul. If she was out of his sight, you’d hear, “Kathiiiiiiiii!” which has become a loving joke amongst our family.
Through Jim, the men of our family have been taught to be strong, noble, and to provide for their family. He taught them to always protect their loved ones and to show kindness, but also to know when to “kick some butt.”
The girls of his family, oh how he loved his girls. They were the apple of his eye. The moment he saw them he’d call, “There’s my girl! Come give your Papa a hug!”
Jim’s smile and laughter were bold and bigger than life. He enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He built our family to be strong, successful and to understand that life is what you make of it. He showed us that working hard is how you achieve a great life. This is what he built. A strong family.
Our family.
He is truly a great man, our hero and he will be missed but never forgotten.
