Yesterday will change my life forever. My best friend of 20 years has passed away. There are people who come in and out of your life, and those who stay. James and I were always family. The kind you lean on, argue with, pick each other up and hold through the rough times. He was the first person I would call before and after work for many years. We were a team. Thick and thin! No matter what, we always talked the next day. Always! He was my support system when I moved out on my own. He taught me a hard work ethic, and always was the first one to cheer on women in the trades! In that way he was an extension of my father, always bragging about me.
The thing is, he was one of the smartest, most detail-oriented people I have ever known. This guy knew math. Building bridges, concrete form systems, and could set things with such precision that not many could hold a candle!
Also, we had a very special fur baby together, our sweet girl Sadie. Most people who knew him, knew her. I know she was there to greet her daddy.
I will never be the same again, but I will honor all of his best parts, and decades of memories. He will always be in our hearts, and our stories!
Rest in peace my sweet James. You have always been my person.
