The family of Janet Messineo of Dayton, NV is saddened to announce her peaceful passing on Thursday August 4th at the age of 81 years. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Edna Iversen. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Ed; children Elina (Bob) Dunn and Edward (Sheri) Messineo; grandchildren Shannon (Dylan) Newman and Bobby Dunn; sister Dorthea Turek and nephew Peter Turek as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Janet applied her college education working as an administrative assistant and office manager for 30 years. Her favorite job however was being a wife and a mother. Those who knew her well will tell you she ran a tight ship at work and home, and that everyone whose life she touched was better for it.
Janet had many hobbies. Growing up as a a Connecticut farm girl, Janet definitely had a green thumb. There was not a time when her garden, house plants and flowers did not flourish from her care. As an athlete she competed in softball, curling and bowling. She was an accomplished seamstress. Her talents included drapes, kilts, suits and everything in between. Knitting and crocheting were in Janet’s wheelhouse as well. She was cherished for her skills as a cook, treating her family to new and exciting meals every day. In retirement, she found joy in traveling and being close to family and friends. Janet treasured her time with friends at Curves, weekly coffee hours and card games at the neighborhood clubhouse. She even found a little time to relax with a good book or puzzle.
At this time no memorial services have been planned. Future details will follow for a celebration of life. We look forward to sharing memories of our Wife and Mom. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Janet’s name to the American Cancer Society, where she worked for many years.
