Mark Dallas Manley, 58, loving son, husband, father and G-Dad of Carson City, Nevada passed away on February 6, 2024. He touched many individuals’ hearts and souls during his time with us and is survived and kept in loving memory by his father, sisters, wife, sons, grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Mark was born on November 17, 1965, to Dallas and Judith Manley in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. The youngest of three children, Mark enjoyed a happy childhood with his sisters Robin and Lisa. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in the early 1970s where he met his lifelong friend Dave. Mark and Dave were known to get into mischief together over the years, and there’s an infamous story involving a rooftop and a backyard swimming pool.
After graduating from Sunnyslope High School, he briefly served as a page and reader at the Arizona Legislature before having a lengthy career in legal process serving and management. In 1993, Mark met his wife Nancy while working as a runner picking up legal documents. They were married in Scottsdale, AZ in October 2000. During their three decades together, they raised two sons Harrison and Miles in Scottsdale before moving to Carson City, NV in 2015.
Family and sports were everything to Mark. As a young adult Mark played in 3-on-3 basketball tournaments and had an amazing three-point shot. He enjoyed coaching his boys Harrison and Miles youth sports teams in football, basketball, and baseball. Having passed on the legacy of coaching to his son Harrison, Mark became an avid spectator, rarely missing one of his grand children’s games.
Retiring early in 2015, Mark loved being a grandparent, or G-dad, as he was called by Matthew, Tatum, Derrick, Brooklyn, and Chloe. He played a significant role in his grandchildren’s lives be it through childcare, school drop offs and pick-ups, attending all sporting and school events, weekly trips to the convenience store for junk food, and special days to celebrate birthdays. One of his greatest wishes was for his grandchildren to someday play the same role as he did in their lives; knowing he was always there for them.
It is always challenging to encapsulate a well-lived life in a few short paragraphs; therefore, a Celebration of Life will be held in Phoenix, AZ on April 5, 2024. Attendees are asked to bring their favorite memories and stories of Mark to share with family and friends.
