

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Norman Milz, after a long health battle. Norman was born October 17, 1953, in Detroit, MI, and passed away peacefully with his family at his side Sunday, September 20, 2026. Through his 72 years, he touched many lives as a teacher, Pastor and great friend.
Norm began his teaching career after receiving his teaching degree from Concordia University in Seward, NE, and his Masters of Music from the University of Illinois. He began teaching at the Lutheran School Association in Decatur, IL. He continued to spend his life dedicated to teaching, and working as a principal, in Lutheran schools including, Bethel Lutheran in Morton, IL, Prince of Peace in Fremont, CA, and St. Peter in Lodi, CA. He was then called to be a pastor for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and spent over 15 years serving at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson City, NV. Norm also loved teaching Bible studies and leading and performing with various choirs and musical groups at the churches where he worked.
Norm lived his life to bring glory to God and share God's love with others. We are grateful to have been blessed with such a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Char Milz, and two children Rebekah Pratt and Nathan Milz. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Abigail Pratt. He is preceded in death by his sister and parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Scholarship fund at Bethel Lutheran School in Morton, IL, and Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City, NV.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.
