Phyllis Jean Whited

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of our mother. Our beloved mother passed away quietly in her home on June 30,2025. She will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Phyllis Jean Carey Whited, 80, was born in O’Neill, Nebraska on August 9, 1944. She moved to Portland, Oregon with her family when she was 2 years old. Phyllis met our father Eugene Whited in Portland, Oregon through Phyllis’s cousin Don Carey who was our father's best friend. Phyllis and Eugene got married on June 30, 1962, when she was 17 years old. Phyllis and Eugene moved to Southern California in Fall of 1962 and 6 years later started a family. In the summer of 1975 Phyllis and her family moved to Carson City, Nevada where she would spend the rest of her life being a Cub Scout Den Leader, PTA member, Little League Team Mom, Neighborhood mom to everybody. After our father's passing in 1993 she went to work for the State of Nevada (Governor's Office) then in 1996 Phyllis started working at State Farm Insurance. For the next 18 years Phyllis helped numerus people with their insurance needs. Phyllis retired in 2015. After retiring Phyllis spent most of her time being Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Bonnie, son Bob, (wife) Cecilia, daughter Pam, grandchildren, Nicole, Tim, and Katie, great grandchildren, Parker, and Bennett.

Services will be held on July 25, 2025, at Mountain Vista Baptist Church, 1750 Mountain St, in Carson City at 10:00am. Viewing from 10:00am-10:45am following a service that will start at 11:00am. Following the service a reception will be held.
