Born on December 28, 1952, at Tripler Army Air Force Base in Oahu, Randy’s life was marked by a deep commitment to family, and faith. He pursued his education with dedication and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Following graduation, Randy embarked on a career in engineering. He worked for the City of Reno and later joined a private company RCI before concluding his professional journey as a roadway design engineer with the State of Nevada. He retired in 2013 after years of dedicated public service.
Randy was deeply rooted in his faith and was an active member of the San Francisco Peninsula Christadelphian ecclesia. His spiritual convictions were a guiding force throughout his life and shaped many of his relationships and decisions.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Peggy; his children Deborah (Matt) Gerber, Jessica Posey, Jennifer (Zak) Taylor, and Nicholas (Mandy) Posey; his grandchildren Alexis, Brody, Colin, Calvin, Trenton, and Finn; and great-grandchildren Booker and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Proseus.
In earlier years, Randy found joy in music—often lying on the floor for hours immersed in the sounds of Mark Knopfler, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, and Dire Straits. Music was more than entertainment for him; it was a source of peace and reflection. He also cherished time spent outdoors and made annual camping trips to Sharin Woods where he enjoyed fellowship with family and friends. He also enjoyed an occasional margarita and for those who knew, it was a house margarita “Blended, No Salt.”
Randy had an unmistakable sense of humor that left an indelible mark on those around him. Known for his ever-ready “dad jokes,” he delighted in sharing quips like “What’s the capital of South Dakota?”, “Don’t confuse me with the facts,” or “Hi, this is your husband, Randy.” Even toward the end of his life, he kept spirits high with one final pun—declaring himself “Randy-capped” while climbing stairs—a moment that perfectly captured his enduring wit.
May Randy’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter and love among all who carry forward his legacy.
