Tresa Ellen Harrell

Lockwood, NV – Tresa passed March 13, 2025, at a local Sparks hospital after a short battle against cancer.

Tresa was born October 7, 1948, in La Grande Oregon to Denver and Nadine Wood. Her career was in education. She started out as a school aide at an elementary school in La Grande and worked her way up to school secretary, then the Department of Education secretary at Eastern Oregon State College (EOSC). She was then recruited to be the Department of Education secretary for the Dean at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). She then decided to teach, so she completed her master's plus hours and went to work teaching at an at-risk high school in Las Vegas. Tresa was awarded Teacher of the Year in Las Vegas.

Tresa married high school sweetheart on June 4, 1966, at Emmett Idaho. They celebrated their 58th anniversary in 2024.

Tresa is survived by her husband F.Jay Harrell; a daughter, Larissa JoAnne Bissonnette and son-in law (Neil); a son, Damon Brooks Harrell, and daughter-in law (Angel); a brother John S. Wood; sisters, Marcia Sailer, Ila Kowalski, Donna Fuzi, and Merri Wood; one sister, Lonita Friend proceeded her in death; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She will be buried at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley NV.
