Wallace Elias Adams — a life time resident of Carson Valley and the fourth generation of the John Quincy Adams family passed away peacefully Wednesday 10, June 2026.
He was raised and lived on the historic ranch established in 1850 by John Quincy Adams the son of Rufus and Elsie Adams of Genoa, Nevada. Wallace (Wally) as most people called him was born in Gardnerville with the help of a midwife in 1948. Growing up on the ranch, he attended the one room Court House/ School House in
Genoa which was constructed of bricks made in the kiln of the Adams family. After the early school years in Genoa, he moved to the county middle schools and high school of Douglas County, graduating in 1966. He then went on to trade school in Salt Lake City, learning the skills required for diesel engine design and mechanics.
Wally’s life as a rancher established the non-stop work ethic that he exhibited his entire life. In addition to ranching, he become well-known in the valley by being involved in many organizations — he was the Chief of the Genoa fire department, President of the Genoa
Cemetery Association, and a founding member of the Gardnerville Gun Club. As if that didn’t keep him busy, he took on the brand inspection role in Nevada and California, driving over 80,000 miles each year. This opportunity allowed him the chance to meet many. All of this work built a reputation of being a person that you could depend on for help and friendship.
Wallace is survived by his wife Judy Huck Adams and his two brothers William and John Quincy.
