Walter Jacob Davis

Walter Jacob David passed away on August 18th, 2026, at the age of 89. Walt was born on March 21st, 1937, in Dover, Ohio, to Howard and Eugenia Davis. He moved to Beaver, Pennsylvania as a young child and attended Beaver High School, where he excelled in football and track.

After graduation in 1955, Walt enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he spent the next four years studying Radar and Missile Tracking. After being honorably discharged in 1959, he took his radar skills to Federal Electric Corporation/ITT at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, CA. Walt spent the next 40 years, until his retirement, with FEC/ITT, ascending to the level of Vice President of Operations.

While in high school, he met the love of his life Janice Riggs. Walt and Jan were married in December of 1959. The first 2 years of their marriage were spent in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1961, they moved to Lompoc, CA, where they would spend the next 45 years raising their family. During his time in Lompoc, Walt was a proud member of the Elks Club. He thoroughly enjoyed barbequing and served thousands of meals as part of the Elks BBQ team. He was a volunteer for many years for the Lompoc Little League, as a coach and an umpire. He was also a proud booster of the Lompoc Braves Senior Highschool Football Program.

After their retirement, Walt and Jan built their dream home in Goodyear, Arizona. There they enjoyed the company of their many friends. Hiking, bowling, bocce ball, swimming, target shooting and many intimate parties filled their days. They also loved to travel. Whether it was cruises to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Mexico, and Hawaii, or flying across the pond to Europe. Germany during Octoberfest, and Switzerland were their personal favorites, and they made friends everywhere they went. Their greatest joy in retirement was spending time with their grandsons. Whether it was going to see their beloved Arizona Diamondbacks, or trips to Texas Roadhouse, being with their grandsons is what made them happiest. As life slowed down later in retirement, Walt's favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch on a warm evening, enjoying a "Jack" and solving all the world's problems with his best friend Ron.

Upon Jan's passing in 2022, Walt moved to Nevada to be closer to his family.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eugenia; his brothers Ronnie and Jimmy; his sisters- in-law Daneen and Sally; his brothers-in-law Ralph and Dick; and his nephew Mark.

He is survived by his son Bob(Toni); grandson's Matt(Colleen), Jake(Alyssa) and Dustin(Brytlynn; his great grandchildren Maci, Brady Savannah and Ashton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his sister-in-law Karen.
