Bill was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Nancy and Oscar E. Boyd. He was raised in Ramona, Oklahoma, where he attended and graduated from Caney Valley. He played baseball throughout his youth, a passion made even more special because his dad was his coach. Though he later made his home in Nevada, his Oklahoma roots and those cherished early years stayed with him throughout his life.
Out west, Bill built a respected career as an electrical foreman for the gold mines in Nevada, known for his hard work and leadership on the job. When he wasn't working, Bill lived for the freedom of the open road. He was a proud Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider and a dedicated member of the Branded Few Motorcycle Club, where he shared a tight bond of brotherhood with his fellow riders.
He earned his legendary nickname "Wild Turkey Bill" because he was a damn good turkey hunter, but also because he had a famous fondness for Wild Turkey whiskey. Bill lived life to the absolute fullest. He possessed a keen sense of humor that could light up any room, a quick wit, and a deeply loving heart. He was a true character who brought joy and laughter to everyone around him.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Val.
He leaves behind his children, William Charles Boyd, Sarah Boyd, and stepdaughter Ariel. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Boyd, and his wife, Annett. Bill’s legacy lives on through his five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Bill also leaves behind his fiercely loved dog, Mia Hoochie Mama. At 16 years old, she was his absolute world, and he loved that dog to pieces.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, his former mining crews, his club brothers, and all who had the pleasure of raising a glass and swapping stories with him.
