Angela “Angie” Raye Gardner passed away at her home in Cartersville, Georgia Wednesday, July 6th 2016. She was 51 years old. She was born August 4th 1964 in Daytona Beach, FL to George Ray Gardner and Marian A. “Boots” Sykes. Angie was their second child, and only daughter.
Angie was an intelligent, strong-willed, passionate woman. Whether it was related to her family, her career, or enjoying herself, anything she chose to do in life was done to the fullest. She was an exceptional mother, and the proudest Momma of her twin boys she so affectionately called “Her Heart”. She loved being around water; lakes, rivers, creeks, it didn’t matter, but her heart was with the ocean and the beach.
As all that were close to her would attest to, Angie was a “girly girl”, but loved to be outside. She enjoyed camping trips, boat rides, festivals, and having any family gathering outdoors. She was an avid reader, and likely never found without a book in arms reach. She had a passion for racing, always proclaiming that it was in her blood, and fully supported her father, brother, son, and nephew’s racing habit.
Angie lived a relatively short life, but the impression she leaves with all is more than most could provide in two. It’s hard to describe Angie in only a few words, but loving, beautiful, compassionate and tenderhearted were some of her greatest characteristics.
Angie was preceded in death by: Step-Father George S. Sykes.
Angie is survived by: Mother and Best Friend Marian A. Sykes, Father George Ray Gardner (Mary), Brothers John Douglas Gardner and Calvin Clifford Gardner (Sarah), and Sons Joe Frank Cochran and Walter Ray Cochran.
