Annie Barnette Allison

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lizzie Hunt, Libby Cox, and Martha Knight; her first husband Raymond Barnette and her second husband, Bill Allison; two sons, Carl Barnette and Bobby Barnette.

Mrs. Allison is survived by her daughter, Shirley Blackmon and two sons, Louis Barnette and Larry (Diane) Barnette; two brothers, William (Curley) Alverson and Billy Waters; grandchildren, Brian Barnette, Steve Barnette, Lamar Blackmon, Tommy Blackmon, Tracy Brooks, Gene Barnette, Michael Barnette, Susan Evans and Carla Hilburn; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The Lord blessed her with many years and she tried to honor Him in her daily life. She was a loving Mother and often said, “I live for my children.”

She was an avid gardener, canning fruits and vegetables every year and sharing with all she came in contact with. She was a seamstress and could look at a picture of a garment and duplicate it. In the early days she made shirts and dresses for her children from flour sacks on her pedal operated sewing machine.

She is most remembered for the many quilts she made. With the help of her good friend, Annie Ruth Davis, who owned a quilt shop, she was able to have her quilts distributed all over the south. One of her many designs was featured in a quilting magazine.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery in Cartersville.

The family will receive friends from one o’clock in the afternoon until three on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers, Michael (Blue) King, Steve Barnette, Drew Barnette, Lamar Blackmon, Tommy Blackmon, Gene Barnette, and Jessie Overby.
