

Brandon graduated from Woodland High School in 2015 before attending Georgia Highlands for 2 years. In 2018, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve. After completing boot camp in Parris Island and Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, he returned home to attend Kennesaw State University, obtaining a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an engineer at Fizz Dispense Optimization Group followed by a career at Toyo Tires as a tire design engineer. He was an Expert Rifle and Pistol marksman. He served with the first CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) integrated PRP team at Northern Strike Michigan. He was a squad leader for PRP second platoon as a Sergeant. He held a grey belt in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts), he earned the Good Cookie medal as well as a National Defense service medal. He was recently promoted to a Sergeant (E-5) as well as completing 6 years of service in the reserves. This May he went overseas with second platoon to be part of Operation African Lion held in Tan-Tan, Morocco.
Brandon is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Arthur Burt Rutledge of Newnan, GA and cousin Cody Watson of Clarkesville, GA.
Brandon is survived by his wife, Alondra Rutledge whom he met during MOS training school at Fort Lee, Virginia with the Quartermaster training battalion. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Shirley Rutledge; sister, Katie Hardy and her husband, Brett, nephew Carter and niece Klara. Paternal grandparent, June Rutledge Duncan of Newnan, GA. Maternal grandparents, Jim and Jeanne Watson of Rome, GA. Uncle Bradley Rutledge (Joan) of Jasper, GA, Uncle Alan Rutledge (Margarita) of Newnan, GA, Aunt Terry Mayhew (Ron) of Young Harris, GA and Uncle Chris Watson (Anne) of Clarkesville, GA.
Brandon enjoyed riding his Indian Scout motorcycle, serving as a U.S. Marine, and shooting his M-1 Garand, a part of his extensive collection of militaria antiques.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday, September 20th, 2024 at Owen funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024 in the chapel. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville.
