Barry Lamar Howard

Barry L. Howard finally took his last long haul, July 9, 2026 and while our hearts are broken, we can already imagine the reunion at Heaven’s gates. There to meet him were many family members and loved ones who went before him—probably ready to hear one more story, share one more laugh, and maybe even get teased just one more time.

If you knew Barry, you knew he loved to pick on you. It was his way of showing he cared. If he teased you, you were family. If he teased you a lot, you were one of his favorites. His quick wit and playful sense of humor kept everyone on their toes, and he could make even an ordinary day unforgettable.

Barry spent his career driving trucks, proudly covering countless miles and proving there wasn’t much he couldn’t handle on the open road. When he wasn’t driving, you could usually find him with a fishing pole in hand, convinced that the next cast would bring in “the big one.” Whether he caught anything or not, the stories somehow got better every time they were told.

The greatest blessing in Barry’s life was his wife, Rhonda, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and memories that will live on forever.

Barry leaves behind his beloved wife, Rhonda; his son, Kirk Howard and wife, Shannon; his daughter, Rebecca; his treasured grandchildren, Conner, Bailey, and Lucas; his brother, Jerry; his sister, Paulette; and many extended family members and friends who will forever miss his smile, his stories, and his unforgettable teasing.

We like to think that by now, Barry has already found the best fishing spot in Heaven, borrowed a truck to see the sights, and started teasing everyone at the pearly gates. Heaven just got a little louder, a little funnier, and a whole lot more entertaining.

Though we will miss him beyond words, we take comfort in knowing his journey continues in perfect peace. Every passing semi on the highway, every quiet morning by the water, and every good-hearted joke shared among family will remind us of the man who made life richer simply by being himself.

Drive easy, Barry-Keep the lines tight, the stories coming, and don’t give those angels too hard of a time, we’ll see you again someday.
