

Mr. Fields was born on January 9, 1933 in Newnan, GA, son of the late James Walter Fields and Elizabeth Boyd Fields.
Mr. Fields proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was the recipient of metals for both Good Conduct and National Defense. He also retired from General Motors where he employed in the paint and trim department as well as the assembly line. His true passion was his love for other people, he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need around him, such as his lifetime involvement with the Rome Shrine Club, where he helped transport children to Scottish Rite Hospital as well as assisting with the Shriner’s Circus that helped raise funds for the children’s hospital. Mr. Fields was also a proud and active member of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Tommie Jean Fields; daughter, Debbie (Warren) Combs of Cartersville, GA; brother, Jimmy (Bernice) Fields of Douglasville, GA.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, February 19, 2016 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Boatfield and Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, GA.
Serving as pallbearers are members of the Shrine Club, Rome, GA, Mack Godfrey, Homer Cowart, Alan Voyles, Jimmy Young, Tony Warren and Robert Mize.
Visitation will be held from five o’clock in the evening until eight on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to YAARAB Shrine Temple, Children’s Hospital Fund, in honor of Noble Ben Fields, c/o Rome Shrine Club, P.O Box 1544, Rome, GA 30162.
