Betty Ruth Cothran

It is with broken hearts but encouraging hope we announce the perfect healing of Betty Cothran, our loving mother and devoted friend to all whose lives she touched. Betty Knox Cothran, age 92 of Cartersville, GA passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Betty was born on August 14, 1927 to Ossie Sloan and Goldie Hardin Knox in Cherokee County. She was a dedicated mother who deeply loved her family and instilled in her children, strong values that will continue to serve them well. She enjoyed quilting, cooking for the homeless and car racing.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Cothran; granddaughter, Lexie O’Banion; brothers, Joe Knox, Frank Knox; sisters, Irene Myrick, Hazel Chastain and Josie Knox . She is survived by her sons, Berlon (Annette) Cothran, Jimmy (Sandra) Cothran; Daughters, Judy (Randy) Brock, Beverly (Freddy) Wehunt and Rhonda Youngblood; grandchildren, Tammy Layton, Deena Branton, Melissa Smith, Brad Cothran, Shannon Wehunt, Keith Cothran and Dane Moss; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother Zack Knox.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Jacobs, Rev. Wesley Morris and Rev. Larry Davis officiating. James Layton, Chad Branton, Bobby Knox, Keith Cothran, Shannon Wehunt, Dane Moss and Micheal O’Banion will serve as pallbearers.
