

Bill was born on September 23, 1963, in Wichita, Kansas, to Gary Johnson and the late Glennes Phipps Johnson. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Bill earned a bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University, a master's degree from Troy University, and a specialist degree from Valdosta State University. He dedicated his life to education, serving as a teacher and Associate Principal at Cass High School for the past ten years. He also served as a teacher in Henry County, Georgia. Prior to his career in education, Bill worked as a manager for Piccadilly Cafeterias.
Bill was deeply committed to his profession and to the students and colleagues whose lives he touched; Bill was most proud of his roles as a husband, father, and educator. He will be remembered for his dedication, leadership, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
Bill was a member of Faith Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. Bill was a man of many strengths, including his commitment, sense of humor, and deep love for his family and profession. His steady presence, generous spirit, and dedication to those around him left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Philena Childress Johnson; his daughters, Ashton Johnson, Sheridan Johnson, and Caitlin Johnson; his father, Gary Johnson; his sister, Tracy Bennett; and his brother, Clay Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home. The Johnson family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on June 22, 2026.
