Billy Eugene Chandler

Billy was born in McIntyre, Georgia on April 2, 1945. He served his country in the United States Army. While in the Army he worked hard and finished his GED and upon his discharge he went to work in the construction industry. Initially he worked for a few highway contractors. Ultimately he retired as President of Summers-Taylor in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He had three passions in life. He was passionate about his career, fishing and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years, Margaret Nelson Chandler; his son and his wife, Billy Eugene Chandler, Jr. and Jamie; his grandsons, Will Chandler and Joseph Chandler; his niece, Elizabeth Smith, his great niece, Kailey Beth Smith; and his great nephew, Scott Alan Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sara Elizabeth Sexton Greer and his step-father, Hugh “Doc” Greer; his sister, Sarah Mae Enzor (Charles); his brother, Charles Chandler (Virginia); and his nephew, Chuck Chandler. As well as Margaret’s parents, Gene Nelson and Lucille Cowart.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Cartersville Country Club.
