Born on March 29, 1935, in Calhoun, Georgia, Jack was the son of the late Charles Homer McDaniel and Effie Hice McDaniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles McDaniel.
A graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1953 - Jack treasured his classmates for his entire life. In high school, Jack was the starting fullback for the 1953 State Football Championship team. After high school, he earned a business degree from Georgia State University and served in the National Guard.
Following his service, Jack went to work in the oil industry, which took him to Texas, Alabama, and eventually Mobile. It was there he met the love of his life, Frances Jenkins, of Liberty, Mississippi, one Sunday evening on their way into church. The two were soon married, returning to Georgia where they started a family and a business, Green Acres Nursery in Cartersville. As the business grew, they expanded into the swimming pool industry, establishing Green Acres Pools, which has served the Cartersville community for more than 40 years.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jack’s greatest love was Frances, their four children, and their grandchildren. They gathered often at their home in Euharlee, where they shared many meals, much laughter, and so many wonderful memories. As the years passed, the family grew and grew, and so did the memories.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to know Jack remember his uncommon humor and his beautiful smile. We also knew he was a man of life-changing faith. Born in the Depression, Jack loved to help others, and his quiet generosity was the conviction of his life. Today, Jack would want you to know that his relationship with Jesus Christ was his unending joy. He would also want you to know that this same joy is available to all who simply place their faith in Christ. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Frances Jenkins McDaniel; his children, Scott McDaniel (Paula), Adrian McDaniel (April), Galen McDaniel (Kory), and Tasha Broadwater (Wayne); his grandchildren, Tyler McDaniel (Adrieanna), Joshua McDaniel (Kaylie), Madison Prince (Hayden), Madelyn McDaniel, Levi Camp (Hannah), Marie Woodard (Tyler), Garrison McDaniel, Trenton McDaniel, Kenzie McDaniel, Whitley McDaniel, Katherine McDaniel, Amelia McDaniel, Calvary McDaniel, Lucy McDaniel, Joseph McDaniel, William Broadwater (Jenna), Emily Lane, Jack Lane, and Elise Lane; nine great-grandchildren; and his niece, Sharon McDaniel.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m.
Jack’s legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.”
