Bonnie Arp Scott (Nana), age 65, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Bonnie was a lifelong resident of Cartersville, born on December 30, 1956 to the late Frank and Barbara Arp. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Arp Forbus who passed 2017 and Gail Arp Poole, who passed just three days prior to Bonnie. Bonnie was a 1975 graduate of Cartersville High School and was a proud alumni.
She was married to the love of her life, “Scotty” Scott on June 27, 1975. They made a beautiful life together for nearly 47 years and were the proud parents of their only child, April. From the moment April met her husband, Lon, Bonnie welcomed him into the family as the son she never had. She retired from Auto Parts Company, where she worked in Accounting for over fifteen years.
Bonnie was strong in her faith. She loved the Lord, her family, her church and her friends with all she had. To say that Bonnie had a servant’s heart is an understatement. She was always doing, cooking, giving and going for her family, friends and anyone in need. She was the rock of her family and friends. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many areas of ministry, especially anywhere her granddaughters were involved. She also served for a number of years with SPLASH and the Bartow Baptist Association. She loved working with children and youth at her church and was loved dearly by so many of them.
The greatest love of her life was being a Nana to her two granddaughters, Reese and Claire, whom she absolutely adored. From the moment they were born, her world revolved around them. She was a constant in their life, never missing an event, joining them and their friends for lunches at school, picking them up each day and making a way for years of dance and music lessons. Without her, none of which would have been possible.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, William “Scotty” Scott, her beloved daughter and son-in-law, April and Lon Harbin and her granddaughters, Bonnie “Reese” Harbin and Madelyn “Claire” Harbin, her two sisters, Janice (Russell) Grizzle and Mary (Rodney) Blalock, special nieces, Valerie (Terry) St. Martin and Christy (Brad) Serpa and great-nephew Nathan Serpa, sisters-in-law, Gewene Womack and Carolyn (Darwin) Caldwell and numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Latham and Pastor Benjy Linder officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Cloninger, Brad Greene, Brad Serpa, Terry St. Martin, Andy Womack and Dennis Womack. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church or Bartow Family Resources.
