Born on November 3, 1927, Bonnie was a proud native of Bartow County. She was one of ten children and the only daughter born to Charles and Mamie Young. At the age of 12, Bonnie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She faithfully served as a member of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church for 65 years, where she found great joy in worship, Bible reading, and gospel music.
Bonnie never sought recognition, but everyone who knew her recognized the quiet strength and unwavering faith she carried throughout her life. She was kind, humble, wise, modest, selfless, and completely devoted to her family. She was a loyal wife, loving mother, a treasured Mawmaw, a supportive sister, caring aunt, and a faithful friend. Whether preparing a meal, gathering loved ones around the table, or simply spending time together, Bonnie's greatest happiness was found in caring for those she loved.
She enjoyed time spent crocheting blankets, sewing, tending to her garden, canning vegetables, and simply spending time with her children and grandchildren. She taught her family by example what it meant to work hard, love generously, and trust God through every season of life. Her legacy is one of faith, perseverance, generosity, and unconditional love—a legacy that will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mamie Young; her beloved husband, H.A. Taylor, Jr.; her brothers, Homer Young, Gene Young, Harlie Young, Frank Young, Fred Young, Rob Young, Earl Dean Young, and Roy Young and spouses; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Yvonne Taylor, Jimmy Elrod, Doris Ingram, Buddy and Juanita Bagwell, Larry Taylor, and Billy Taylor.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Michael and Pat Lemons, Darrell and Brenda Wilson, Kenneth and Jo Taylor, and Phillip Taylor; her grandchildren, Darren and Heather Wilson, Eric and Amanda Elrod, Jeremy and Erika Lemons, and Kyle and Keela Coker; her great-grandchildren, Banks Wilson, Brock Wilson, Easton Elrod, Jacksyn Elrod, Kyler Lemons, Jett Lemons, Emory Coker, Jude Coker, Isla Coker, and Zion Coker; her brother, Harvey Young; her sisters-in-law, Marie Elrod and Patsy Taylor; her brother-in-law, W.A. Ingram; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 13, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel, with her Pastor Eric Elrod and Kyle Coker officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Methodist Cemetery, where words of remembrance will be shared by Emory Coker.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darren Wilson, Jeremy Lemons, Banks Wilson, Brock Wilson, Easton Elrod, and Emory Coker.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Eternal Faith Hospice and Palliative Care, along with Bonnie's devoted caregivers, for the exceptional love, comfort, and care they provided during her final days.
While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Bonnie's faith has become sight. The prayers she prayed, the Bible she faithfully read, the hymns she loved to sing, and the Christ she faithfully served throughout her life have now welcomed her home. Her legacy is not only found in the family she loved so deeply, but in the example of Christian faith she lived every day. Her life echoed the words of Scripture: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
