Bonny Lamar Brooks, age 67, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Friday August 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Bonny was born August 6, 1951 to Geneva Brown Brooks and Horace Brooks in Milledgeville, GA.
Bonny is survived by his wife, Linda Walker Brooks; daughter Adrienne (Joseph Smith) Brooks; and son Micah Walker (Tiffany) Brooks; mother Geneva Brown Brooks and father Horace Brooks; grandson Kai Chang Brooks, grandson Jette Walker Brooks, granddaughter Scout Jordan Brooks, grandson Bailey Joseph Smith, grandson Brady Matthew Smith, granddaughter Evelyn Frances Smith and granddaughter Norah Bess Smith, sister, Glenda (Glen) Kohlhagen, brother, Ronny Brooks, brother-in-law, Robert (Jane) Walker.
Bonny was a loving father and husband. He loved his family, his community and absolutely lived for his grandchildren. He was a patriot, serving in the military for over 35 years. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, serving the Lord working with children and youth. He was a mentor to so many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Heritage Baptist Church, Cartersville, GA Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at eleven in the morning. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Tutterow, Rev. Glen Kohlhagen and the Rev. Dr. Jim Starr. Interment will follow the service at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA at three o'clock in the afternoon with Military Honors given.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from six in the evening until eight.
