

Carl “Skid” Johnsey Sr., age 85, passed away in his home on Monday, November 30, 2020 after a long struggle with lung disease. Skid was born on November 21, 1935 to the late Dewey and Clara Johnsey, in Cartersville, Georgia.
Skid graduated from Cass High School. He served three years in the Army during the Vietnam era. He later retired after 30 years of service working for the U.S. Postal Service as a Cartersville letter carrier. Many also remember Skid from his business, Johnsey And McKay Plumbing.
Skid enjoyed casual conversations with everyone and he never met a stranger. He was an active mason at the Emerson Masonic Lodge, #738 and was Baptist in faith.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Derek Johnsey and granddaughter, Hope Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Patricia Haney Johnsey; son, Carl Johnsey Jr.; daughter, Kim (Phil) Bennett; grandchildren, Rebecca (Kevin) Ray and Tori (Shane) Tucker; brother, Daryl (Viola) Johnsey; great grandchildren, Bennett, Emalee, Connor, and Ellie Ray; brothers-in-law Ronald (Barbara) Haney, Barry (Diane) Haney, and Kerry (Kathy) Haney; and many loving extended family members and friends.
Mr. Johnsey will be laid to rest Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Johnsey Leachman Cemetery, at Center Rd and Spur 20. A masonic service will be held graveside.
