OBITUARY

Charles Lamar Thacker

May 2, 1933July 3, 2019

Mr. Charles Lamar Thacker, Age 86, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Wednesday July 03, 2019 at Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome, Georgia surrounded by his loving family. Lamar was born May 02, 1933 in Bartow County to the late Charles Walter and Bertha Jane Worley Thacker and later served his country in the United States Army. Lamar retired from General Electric after 42 years of faithful service and was a devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Thacker will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Mr. Thacker is preceded in death by his parents, Grandson Caleb Thacker, and Siblings John Cothran Thacker, Cora Evelyn Thacker, Stephen Weldon Thacker, Edna Elaine Thacker Wills, and Hansel Thacker. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Brooks Thacker, his children Bridget Thacker Fuller of Chatsworth, Georgia and a Son Greg Thacker of Cartersville, Georgia. A sister Elise Thacker (Harold) Collier of Texas. Grandchildren Jacob Thacker, Charlie Thacker, and Madison Casey also survive to cherish Lamar’s memory. And Several Nieces and Nephews also survives. A Celebration of life service for Mr. Thacker will be conducted Sunday July 07,2019 in the Owen Funeral Chapel at 3:00 pm with the Rev. J. Clinton Green officiating . Serving as pallbearers will be: Tim Storey, Jeff Hill, Doug Tatum, Rodney Grizzle, Chris Elzey and Randall Kirkland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Thacker Sunday School Class. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville, Georgia. The Thacker Family will receive friends Sunday July 07, 2019 from 1:00pm until the service hour at Owen Funeral Home. Owen Funeral Home 12 Collins Drive Cartersville, Georgia 30120 is honored to serve the Thacker Family in this most difficult of times.
