Claude Millsap

James “Claude” Millsap, 79, of Cartersville, GA went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2022. Claude passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband and a loving father. Claude is preceded in death by his youngest son, Roger Millsap.

He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Millsap, his daughter Ellen M. Allen, his son, Eric Millsap (Amy), daughter, Myra M. Belcher (Phillip), and his daughter-in-law, Ginger Millsap (widow of son, Roger).

He is also survived by and deeply loved by the following grandchildren; Joseph Allen, Clint Allen, Zachry Griffith, Mallory Millsap, Rachel Millsap, Molly B. Cooper, Lucy Belcher, Summer Millsap, and Julius Claude Millsap; great-grandchildren, Alex Allen, Anndee Allen, Ezra Childers, Sawyer Childers, and Hayes Crunkelton.

He was also loved by a wonderful host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. Millsap and Rachel Millsap. Brothers, W. Carlos Millsap, S. Owen Millsap, C. Quillan Millsap, James A. Bond, Hurdist Millsap, Reed Millsap, and sister, Grace M. Turner.

Claude was a true and faithful servant of the Lord. He retired from the Yellow Freight System after more than 27 years of dedicated employment, where he had many dear friends. Claude’s hobbies were watching the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and working endless hours on automobile restoration with his sons. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 25th of March, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Phillip Belcher officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clark Millsap, Carey Millsap, Craig Millsap, Paul Parker, Joseph Allen, Clint Allen, and Zachry Griffith.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven on Thursday, the 24th of March, 2022 at Owen Funeral Home.
