David Dean Pye Sr., age 79, passed away on May 5, 2021 in Charleston, South Carolina. David was born on August 9, 1941 to the late Hezekiah Pye and Ada Cribbs Pye in Odum, Georgia. David was an incredible leader. He had amazing work ethics which was evident in every aspect of his life. David proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for over six years. He adored his family and loved to spend quality time with them, especially his grandchildren. On March 15, 1970 he married the love of his life, Patricia Holston, and they remained married for the next forty-nine years before her passing. David was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents and wife, David is preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Stafford. He is survived by his son, David Dean Pye Jr. (Lee); daughters, Sheva Brandon (Michael) and Stacey Pye; sister, Linda Whitfield (Bennett); grandchildren, Daniel Townsend, Ashley Gisler, Austin Ray, Marisa Tanner, Jessica Clanton, Mason Clanton, and Colin Pye; great grandchildren, Braden Townsend, Alexis Townsend, Bentley Lane, Kaden Gisler, Miles Wright, Luke Wright, Jasper Wright, Avery Ray, and Georgia Ray; and many loving extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

A funeral service to honor Mr. David Dean Pye Sr. will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at ten o’clock in the morning, in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends for visitation Monday, May 10, 2021 between five o’clock and eight o’clock in the evening. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Patricia Pye, at Providence Cemetery immediately following the service.
